Day 133 - To Twitter or Not?

Until the recent "election" upheaval in Iran (where Twitter posters broke the real news on the streets) to have an account at twitter.com seemed about the lamest thing to do online. The time-spent-to-purpose ratio, from what I could tell, was immeasurably low.

While researching Internet-based income and monetized blog sites, I saw that many authoritative voices were touting Twitter's features as a supplement to their other social media efforts. (Guy Kawasaki is one. I know him. I exchanged notes with him when his first book came out. Handwritten notes I'm saying. It was a while back.)

Guess what? I gave it another look and Twitter does have quite a few follow-worthy members. These folks aren't telling you what they had for breakfast or dropping celebrity names; they're sharing links to helpful sites, encouraging others and behaving in a non-lame way.

So, for now I'm in.
