I know this web site is mostly a series of posts falling in a forest with no one to hear, but for anyone who has been by from time to time, this may have been noticed; the blog is now monetized.
For the uninitiated, that may sound like an economic term ("monetized debt" and such) and that is true in it's classical usage;
Monetize - to utilize (something of value) as a source of profit
However, the term has received a populist upgrade from it's use in the dismal science. Wikipedia states that "Monetization is the process of converting or establishing something into legal tender."
Enterprising Internet users have pioneered and are perfecting the monetization of web sites and blogs, turning the popularity of their content into legal tender. This is done by selling of products, by affiliating with online stores, and/or by selling of products directly. The most straight-forward way of making money with a blog is to incorporate advertisements. This is simple, almost automatic, by signing up for a free AdSesne account. The service finds ads related to your content and places them on your blog. Enough traffic to these ads will begin to generate a modest dividend to the blogger. (Please, don't start clicking these ads! That might be interpreted as misuse of the service on my part.)
As I seek traditional architectural employment, the Internet-based new media and its new economy are interesting alternatives to traditional means of income.
Please return for updates.
